2021 SEASON UPDATE

I write to officially inform you that the 2021 Winter Football Season has been abandoned.

It won't be a surprise because of the current environment we find ourselves in, with the Canterbury Bankstown LGA, Greater Sydney and NSW as a whole struggling with the effects of Covid-19.

We recently met with the Bankstown District Amateur Football Association and other member clubs and it was officially confirmed that the season is abandoned.

Regarding competitions, it was determined by the BDAFA board that the fairest outcome for all players was to not declare any minor premiers or premiers for 2021. With most competitions only just getting halfway through the season we agree that this is the best decision for all clubs.

I'm personally disheartened that we could not finish the season because we had implemented many positive changes at Padstow United.

One of the major highlights was seeing a new club jersey with new sponsors and design. We also had a bumper year in registrations and it was amazing to see all the Tigers players at Playford Park each Saturday especially after the season was affected in 2020. Football at Padstow United FC is something we all play for fun so we or our children can enjoy a sport that we all love.

In good news, BDAFA has announced a fund so that registrations can be discounted in the winter season of 2022. We will be looking to implement these discounts in full to returning players from 2021 who register in 2022. These discounts will be discussed by our current and new committee who will be doing all they can to pass them on so that we can have everyone back for a full regular season in 2022.
